BANGALORE :Even though Mayor S K Nataraj has directed that all road widening works would be put off in the city, greens continue to be apprehensive about the announcement of the Mayor. Save Bangalore Committee, that had demanded that the authorities should not undertake road widening, has urged the people to be more careful, as this was only a press statement.
Reacting to the statement on suspending all road widening works ‘temporarily’, the committee said there were too many ambiguities in this decision which did not specify the time period for the restart of the project.
They have also said road widening project was a cabinet decision and approved by a gazette notification. So, another gazette notification has to be issued to allay fears about the restart of the project.
Save Bangalore Committee has decided not to call off their protest and is seeking substantiation of the Mayor’s assurances. It has been decided to go ahead with their proposed protest march and dharna on August 10 from Mysore Circle to Banappa Park.
