Bannerghatta Road traffic facility to be opened

BANGALORE: Transport Minister R Ashok on Monday said the Transit and Traffic Management Centre (TTMC) on Bannerghatta Road will be opened on August 29.
He told reporters that the multipurpose TTMCs in the city would ease parking problem and ensure smooth flow of traffic. TTMCs are already functional in Jayanagar and Kengeri. Besides the one at Bannerghatta Road, the city will get six more TTMCs at Vijayanagar, Banaswadi, Marathahalli, Peenya, Shantinagar and Jalahalli.
Ashok said the TTMC at Shantinagar would house all the officers pertaining to the transport department. He said tender bids to allot commercial space in Shantinagar TTMC would be called shortly.
He said the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) would use the ground floor of the multistoried TTMCs. He said the other floors would be used to park private vehicles and for other commercial ventures such as showrooms, shops and other establishments.
Also, the minister said that the 444 vacant posts in the BMTC had been filled and the appointment letters had been sent.
Ashok, who is in charge of southern Bangalore, said he had held a meeting with the mayor, deputy mayor and councillors of the region's wards to prepare a comprehensive plan to tackle flooding due to rain.
He said he had directed the officials to identify the areas prone to flooding, reasons for it and the possible solutions to the problem.
