BANGALORE:Heavy rains lashed the streets of Bangalore on Wednesday evening.
While, there were no casualties, cases of small branches falling were reported in places like Jayanagar, Rajajinagar, Frazer Town and Chamarajpet.
According to BBMP officials, seven tree branches have fallen in these areas. Water stagnation at low-lying areas near Kino Theatre, caused several problems.
The BBMP personnel took about half-an-hour to reach the spot and clear the water-logging.
Power disruption was reported in parts of the city like Jayanagar, RT Nagar, Marathahalli, Banashankari and Byat - arayanapura.
While water stagnation affected people in low-lying areas, busy shopping areas like commercial street and the central business district experienced a lull in footfalls as people scrambled to find shelter from the heavy rains. As motorists rushed back home, roads — particularly JC Road, Lalbagh Road, Old Madras Road, Kengal Hanumanthaiah Road and Bellary Road — were clogged with slow-moving traffic.
