BANGALORE: If everything goes according to plan, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will get clearance from the Commissioner for Railway Safety by this October to commission Reach-1 of Namma Metro.
The line runs from Byappanahalli to Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium.
The BMRCL board, in a meeting held on Tuesday, reviewed the progress of Namma Metro project.
Sources in the metro rail corporation board said once the BMRCL gets clearance from the Commissioner for Railway Safety, the testing of the tracks would be done in November.
“We are confident of commissioning Reach-1 of the project on time in December 2010,” said an official who did not wish to be identified.
The official said the board was contemplating to fund the Phase II of Namma Metro project through public-privatepartnership.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 15,000 crore.
A detailed project report of Phase II of Metro is being awaited, which is expected to be 51.3-km long.
