Capturing Bangalore's essence

Capturing Bangalore's essence
Bangalore, May 2, DHNS:

One hundred and sixty photographers went around the city, capturing myriad images through cameras small and big. From 8 am to 8 pm, for 12 hours they scanned the City's streets, its zillion labyrinthine streets to tell visual stories framed for posterity.

At the end of it all, InfinityF, the people behind the whole exercise of imagery had 593 entries, ready to be printed, framed, analysed and rewarded!

And so, InfinityF got together 46 of the very best frames, put them up in an extremely different place aptly called ‘Jaaga.” You had every wannabe shutterbug in town queue up to watch.

On Sunday, as a motley crowd watched in awe, five winners emerged in categories titled: Akash Bhattacharya for 'Heritage,' Vaidyanathan for 'It Happens Only In Bengaluru,' Sandesh R for 'Life in the City' and Ram Reddy for 'Twilight.'

Digital SLRs slung around their necks, the photographers recalled the exercise with much relish. "I drove from Hebbal to Airport Road driving around in my car looking for shots," says Ram Reddy one of the participants.

Eventually, Vijay Alphonse, a marketing professional with his unconventional shots of the City emerged the clear winner. He walked away with the “Bengaluru InfinityF 2010 Photographer of The Year” award. The jury had Dr Vivek M and L Selvaprakash, both award-winning photographers from Bangalore.
