Qutub Minar all set to steal the show

The Chairman of the Mysore Horticultural Society N Jayaram told mediapersons that the main feature will be competition between government offices such as Raj Bhavan, Vidhan Soudha, police department, schools and colleges, ministers’ bungalows, gardens, public sector undertakings like HAL, ITI, BEML, BHEL, Rail Wheel Factory, Indian Institute of Management, Mahanagara Palike, BDA, Private Bungalows, IT Gardens, Military Gardens, Leela Palace and Sarvalin, Hotel Samrat, The Bell Hotel, Safina Hotel, Hotel Gateway, Htel Cosmos, Taj West End, Sri Satya Saibaba Ashram and super speciality hospital gardens, and others.

More entries this time

This year, 485 entries came for garden competition as againt 435 last year, 292 for Ike Bana, Bonsai Show and vegetable carving competition as against 275 last year, and 474 exhibits in the main horticultural show at glass house as against 461 last year.

Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa is scheduled to inaugurate the show on Tuesday at the Glass House at 3 pm. Horticulture Minister Umesh Katti, Transport and Bangalore South District in-charge Minister R Ashoka, BJP MP Ananth Kumar, MLA Dr Hemachandra Sagar, BBMP Administrator K M Shivakumar, IAS officer SG Hegade would attend the function.

The attraction this year will be the floral Qutub Minar, Cauvery Matha, Orchids Show, Dutch Flower Arrangement, Great Ike-Bana, Interstate Participation, Winter Flowers, Indo-American Hybrid Seeds Company display and Nursery requirement.

The entry fees for adults will be Rs 30 on working days and Rs 40 on holidays and Rs 10 for the children.

The Horticulture Department has requested people not to bring any food packets and all litter, trash or waste is to be dropped at random. Buses and lorries will not be allowed into the Lalbagh. Heavy vehicles may be parked at the KH Road and Hopcom premises.
Two-wheelers and bicycles will be allowed to enter through double road entrance and will be parked at the KG Tower near parking area.

Four-wheeled light vehicles will be allowed to enter through south gate (Siddapura Gate) and should be parked at the nearest place and exit out through the same gate. Entry tickets will be issued at all the entry points. Issuing tickets will cease at 6 pm. All the visitors, their Cameras and luggage would undergo inspection at entry level.
