Fracas sparks tension at BIA
Bangalore, Jan 9, DHNS:

Tension prevailed at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) on Saturday morning when two groups of cab drivers locked horns with each other.

Police said that some local cab drivers entered the airport premises around 5.30 am and started requesting the passengers to hire only their cabs. This irked drivers of Meru and EasyCab, who protested against the local cab drivers and objected their entry into the airport premises. They directed the latter to leave the premises and wait outside. Soon, a verbal ensued and both the groups started pushing each other. The police rushed to the spot and pacified both the groups. No one was injured in the incident.

Later, a meeting of drivers of local cabs, Meru and EasyCab was convened to arrive at a comprise. The police directed the local cab drivers to wait outside the airport and pick the passengers if they were willing to travel by their cabs. They instructed the Meru and EasyCab drivers not to trouble the local cab drivers if the passengers were willing to travel by the local cabs. They also recommended the BIA authorities to display a notice board showing details of distance and fare fixed by all the three agencies.Fracas sparks tension at BIA
