Garbage piles as Palike fails

Garbage piles as Palike fails
Bangalore, Dec 13, DHNS:

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s claim of turning Richmond Town ward into a garbage free zone seems to have failed, with garbage marring four of its famed roads —— M G Road, Brigade Road, St Mark’s Roa and Church Street.

Garbage heaps and stray dogs feeding on them is a common sight here as the BBMP has not kept its word of installing garbage bins in the area.

A month back, the Chief Engineer of the BBMP East Zone, H C Jayachandra had told Deccan Herald that Richmond Town ward would get a facelift within a fortnight.

According to him, 75 new garbage bins would be installed across the ward and sanitary workers would work day and night to keep the roads clean. The entire project would have cost around Rs 60 lakh a year.

However, a month has passed since and not a single garbage bin has been installed here. Visitors of these areas are left with no other choice but to throw garbage by the roadside.
