'Turn City clean in a week or face action'

'Turn City clean in a week or face action'
Bangalore, Nov 20, DHNS:

BBMP Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena has given a week's time for engineers and the zonal commissioners to turn the City clean and green.

He has warned, specifically for junior rank engineers, of stringent action in the face of failure to meet the deadline.

Sources in the BBMP said that a list of roads in each ward had been handed over to all the zonal offices of the BBMP. The junior engineers of the respective wards are expected to obtain the list and begin their work.

Instructions given to the engineers stated that roadside drains and shouldering drains need to be cleared. Engineers have also been instructed to remove the stems and roots of felled trees located above the surface of the road or footpath that cause accidents.
Deadline

The engineers are expected to accomplish the job by November 26, exactly a week from Friday, the day the instructions were issued. “If the engineers fail to perform they would be either suspended or would be sent back to their parent organisation from where they were sent on deputation,” the sources added.
