Bangalore: The Supreme Court on Tuesday disposed of a writ petition lodged against the Karnataka government, for allotting 105 acres of land in the tank bed area at Chikkajala-Doddajala to the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC), to build a new race course.
The bench, comprising Justice Katju and Justice Ganguly, directed the petitioner to file the writ in the Karnataka High Court before appealing with the apex body. Gopalan, representing the petitioner, confirmed that the petition would be filed in the high court in two days.
While the Supreme Court allowed the petitioner the liberty to approach the high court, it ruled that taking into account that it is a state-based issue, the appeal should come up first in the Karnataka High Court.
