Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) managing director N Sivasailam on Thursday said he will do everything to ensure the safety of the high court and Vidhana Soudha buildings while the Metro work is being done in their vicinity.
DNA, on October 14, had reported that underground blasting for Metro's kilometre-long tunnel could create serious damage for the heritage structures.
Sivasailam said he would quit if the construction work for Metro's underground segment affects the landmark buildings on Ambedkar Veedhi. DNA's report pointed out that BMRCL had not conducted pre-blast scientific tests on the site to assess possible damage. "The Vidhana Soudha and high court buildings are 100 per cent safe. If they are not, then I will quit," he said, replying to a barrage of questions from Opposition leader in assembly, Siddaramaiah, and his council counterpart VS Ugrappa.
Sivasailam was summoned by the two to Vidhana Soudha on Thursday to allay people's fears over the Metro project affecting the heritage structures.
