Meena orders crackdown on encroachments

DNA Correspondent. Bangalore

Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner Bharat Lal Meena has directed all the additional and joint commissioners and other officials of the civic body to take stringent action against encroachers.
"To prevent any accidents due to rain in the city, every official has to follow the directions strictly and with responsibility. All the encroachments along storm water drains and secondary drains should be cleared and fencing work should be taken up immediately. This work should begin from Sunday," the BBMPcommissioner said. Directing the staff to clean the drains to prevent water-logging on roads and facilitate free movement of traffic, he said signboards and barricades have to be erected as a precautionary measure at places vulnerable to accidents, or in emergency situations. Besides, measures have to be taken to remove silt in roadside drains and storm water drains, to ensure free flow of water, he said.
In case of any civic emergency, people can call 080 22660000, 22221188, 22975595, 22100031/32/33/43/35 for help.
