Parking pain in Kempegowda bus stand

Parking pain in Kempegowda bus stand

Next time you go to see off your friend, don’t take your vehicle to Kempegowda bus stand. As the metro rail works start from here after 10 days, there will be no parking space in the bus stand. A board has already been put up, stating that the parking lot will be closed and the vehicle owners should co-operate with the authorities.
Currently, around 1,500 twowheelers can be parked in three parking lots. Hundreds of vehicle owners come and park their vehicles to board BMTC and KSRTC buses. If the authorities fail to find an alternative parking place, the situation will be nothing less than chaotic, said a police officer deputed near the KSRTC bus stand. The KSRTC officers have had discussions with BMTC and Railway officials over the matter, but have not yet reached a consensus. There are a few spaces in and around the KSRTC and BMTC bus stand which can be converted into parking places, but it would accommodate only 200-300 vehicles.
The only choice for the vehicle owners is the railway station parking lot. But it has space only for around 1,000 vehicles.
Gaurav Gupta, Managing Director, KSRTC, said, “We are chalking out plans to make provision for vehicle parking near the bus stand. We will talk to the railway officials to allot parking place for our commuters at the railway parking place.”
