The morning cuppa has gone mobile, thanks to BMTC. Officegoers, who may have missed their morning cup of coffee or breakfast, now have the option of having them aboard buses taking them to their places of work
Several been pleasantly surprised by the aroma of hot coffee, idlis and dosas on board the Volvo buses they have clambered on to hurriedly to reach either Electronic City or ITPL over the last week
Passengers on these routes are being treated to Commu Dine, a pantry service introduced by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation to cater to hungry officegoers
The two routes have been selected for the service as they have the maximum number of passengers employed in IT and other related industries
Once on board the buses, the passengers have a choice from among snacks like idlis, dosas and burgers, besides tea, coffee and even soup, all of which are priced reasonably to suit their purses
The BMTC is keen on introducing the pantry service on other bus routes too. Passengers on the Vayu Vajra buses, heading for the airport could also soon enjoy Commu Dine if the service gets the response BMTC is looking for from the people
“We started this service a week ago on a trail basis. If it picks up we plan to extend it to other Volvo buses as well,” says BMTC chief traffic manager (operations), K.S
Vishwanath
Judging by the initial eakfast response, the people seem to be enjoying the snacks served on board the buses
“It’s a relief to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee or have a snack on the buses as we often skip breakfast to reach office on time. I have enjoyed the service on bus number 335T which takes me from Majestic to ITPL. We have someone who comes to take down our order in the bus and serve us. This is something BMTC must be appreciated for,” says regular commuter Vikash Khetan.

Quite cool. BMTC is bringing out some really nice services. It has become by far my favourite government body.

I posted on my blog yesterday about the BIG 10 logo which reads BIG in both kannada and english!
