July 18: Taking its cue from Singapore’s famous Jurong Park which was the first to introduce a night safari in 1994, Bannerghatta National Park is all set to launch one of its own in the next couple of months.
The much awaited night safari is receiving final touches and could be ready to take off in two months, according to the tourism department. “The concept has been approved and we will be calling for tenders in a week’s time. We expect the night safari to start at Bannerghatta Park in two months,” Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) managing director, Vinay Luthra said.
The safari is expected to attract a large number of tourists. “It will be a thrilling experience for adventure enthusiasts. The lights used will be as soothing as moonlight and will not disturb the animals or their activities. The visitors will be taken in a battery car and will have to trek for a closer look at the smaller animals during the safari,” Mr Luthra explained.
