BANGALORE: State transport minister, R Ashok on Thursday declared the upcoming plans of environment friendly autos with tamper proof electronic meters and electronic ticketing for vehicle parking,to the legislative council on Thursday. Autorickshaws - green in colour-literally and announcing their environment friendliness in terms of LPG fuel and complete with tamper proof electronic meters are on the cards for Bangalore, said Ashok.
The owners of the autorickshaws have been resisting the complete switch over to electronic meters, but the government has been pushing it - even offering subsidy on the meter cost, he said. Among others, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation is contemplating the introduction of electronic ticketing for vehicle parking in large bus stations like Kempegowda bus stop in Bangalore, Ashok said. It is a part of the hi-tech bus stops that are being planned, he said.
Ashok also said that the government is aware of the hassles the public goes through with the contractors charging more than the specified parking fee.
