Meters must for autos: Minister Ashok

Transport Minister R Ashok has directed the Transport Commissioner to convene a meeting of representatives of Autorickshaw Owners’ Association in Bangalore and instruct them to install electronic meters compulsorily.

There had been many complaints on autorickshaw drivers charging more by manipulating the meters. The government would soon put an end to the practice, he said.

Ashok said his department would start issuing driving licences for learners in college campuses. The department would hold a camp in select campuses and issue LLRs after conducting basic tests.
