Hebbal-Silk Board route to be signal free corridor

BANGALORE: In the next 10 days, the Government will lay the foundation stone for the signal-free corridor between Hebbal flyover and the Silk Board junction.

This decision was taken at the review meeting of Agenda for Bengaluru’s Infrastructure Development Task Force (ABIDe), and the Rs. 249-crore corridor is among the many plans of the task force to decongest the roads in city.

At the meeting, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa directed all government officials, irrespective of their departments, to expedite work on their action plans, submitted a fortnight ago.

Heritage Commission
He said metropolitan cities across the country had a heritage commission, which Bangalore lacked. “I have directed the officials concerned to form a committee, which would look into the setting up of a museum about Bangalore’s history and culture,” said Mr. Yeddyurappa.

He said “Bangalore Habba” would be held on the birthday of Kempe Gowda.

Monsoon plan
He asked all the civic agencies to take the Monsoon Management Plan Task Force seriously.

Speaking about this plan prepared about three days ago, he asked civic agencies to implement it effectively and ensure the safety of people.

Big 10 service started by the Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation (BMTC) was making profits, and so he urged that more such experiments be taken up to decongest the city, he said.

The meeting was attended by Katta Subramanya Naidu, Minister for Excise, IT/BT and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB); R. Ashoka, Minister for Transport; N. Sivasailam, Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL); Bharat Lal Meena, Commissioner, Bruhat Bangalore Mahangara Palike (BBMP); H.N. Ananth Kumar, Bangalore South MP and Vice-Chairperson of ABIDe Task Force, and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MP and Convener of the task force.
