Only minor finishing works to be completed

Bangalore: The underpass built at Sanjaynagar Junction, and the “left ramp” connecting Vijayanagar through Chord Road from Magadi Road at the Toll Gate Junction have been opened partially for traffic with only a few minor finishing works remaining.

Meanwhile, the flyover built at Yeshwanthpur Circle is getting ready for opening for traffic in another couple of days. Officials of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said that the movement of vehicles were now allowed to ply over the underpass at Sanjaynagar in one direction. Two-way movement will be allowed in a couple of days once the work on a concrete median is completed.

This flyover being built at a cost of about Rs. 21 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission has been delayed. The original deadline was October-November 2007.

The BBMP has commenced asphalting a stretch of Seshadri Road between K.R. Circle and Kalidasa Road Junction. Seshadri Road is likely to be opened for traffic in a couple of days depending upon rain.

However, the widening of Palace Road stretch between Maharani’s College Junction and Mysore Bank Circle is slow as the BBMP got possession of land belonging to Bangalore University only recently.
