Much ado about nothing

Much ado about nothing

Srinivas Nanduri. Bangalore

The best thing about the two airports is the distance and drive between the two airports on NH7 than the commute to the cities from the respective airports. I often get tempted to drive my SUV all the way between these two cities.
Two brand new airports, the first thought that comes to mind is a long pleasurable drive before taking off, but one gets dejected as the drive is anything but comfortable - the approach roads at both the airports are still in the process of being developed, so it still is sometime away to get transported into a feeling of ecstasy while driving.
Having said that, the approach road to Hyderabad airport is going to be picturesque and breezy as the elevated road connecting to the city is nearing completion.
The landscape on the drive way into Hyderabad airport definitely leaves an impression of space as one looks at the car park and the surrounding area. The abundant space around gives one a sense of comfort and convenience, apart from pleasing the aesthetic sense.
The check-in counters in Bangalore are also worth a mention, the wait for security check feels longer than the flight journey, whereas the security check in Hyderabad is a breeze.
The overall ambience in Hyderabad including the waiting area is wonderful, when compared to Bangalore. Although the Bangalore airport waiting area appears to have the same footage, it lags in efficiency, gives you a sense of lack of space which makes you feel rushed. The eating area is cramped. Travellers are often seen walking with a food tray in the hand scouting for space.
Needless to mention, the basic need for any traveller is a good, clean and airy wash room. Both airports have done this job well.
The staff, overall, seem to know their job well and are efficient in their own way. The security, maintenance and immigration officials must be feeling a lot more comfortable in their new work ambience, that will enthuse them to make a difference.
Finally, I would say that the Hyderabad Airport is better designed, executed and maintained than the Bangalore Airport.
