Can commuters finally breathe easy?
After 24 Years, Road Work To Begin Here
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: It’s a 600-m connecting stretch that’s finally taking shape after 24 years and a whopping compensation of Rs 4.5 crore.
With all 25 sites here acquired under the transfer of development rights (TDR), the BBMP on Thursday finally made a start on this road-tobe by demolishing 45 small houses on this stretch in RMV II Stage.
For long, small constructions occupied much of this stretch linking New BEL Road and Rajgopal Road (also known as Sanjaynagar main road). According to BBMP sources, though a road existed on paper, the initial resentment of site owners prevented any progress on it. But the recent acquisitions have paved the way for BBMP to start work here.
“As of now, the site has been cleared. The chief minister is expected to inspect it on Friday. Post this, road-laying work will begin in another three to four days, and will be complete in a month. We are yet to make a final estimate of the works,’’ BBMP additional commissioner (West) Sri Ram Reddy told this paper.
Now, zoom over Yeshwantpur
Bangalore: The three-year wait is finally over. Motorists can start using Yeshwantpur flyover from Friday. The flyover that runs from Yeshwantpur junction to Gopal Theatre, took almost three years to complete, causing much inconvenience in the process. It was supposed to be over by December 2007. But lack of coordination among Bescom, BWSSB, and the traffic police delayed it. JNURM took up this project that cost Rs 19.3 crore.
