Local loop bus services soon

Local loop bus services soon

Bosky Khanna. Bangalore

If all goes well, a feeder bus service will soon be introduced for the Big 10 bus service to compliment its services and improve the mass public transportation system.
A proposal has been set before the government and ABIDe members to introduce a 'direction based local loop service' in individual neighbourhood areas which connects areas in short loops that are essential for local mobility. They would double up to function as feeder services and connect to the Big 10 buses as well.
Centre for Public Policy, and ABIDe member, Dr Ashwin Mahesh told DNA, "We plan to introduce this integrated service within 4-6 weeks on a trial basis in one of the three layouts – Bommasandra, Whitefield and Peenya – after the modalities are chalked out."
"A bus service in a particular area running back and forth frequently is a reliable alternative to personalised vehicles plying on the same roads. There is a large section which plies short distances like to shopping malls, schools and other areas which are ignored," he added.
Apart from this, a circular service around the city to complement Big10 is also in the pipeline. There is also a proposal to introduce 'local loop area bus service' for the Inner and Outer ring roads."
