Seshadri Road underpass magic delayed by 15 days

Seshadri Road underpass magic delayed by 15 days

Bangalore: It’ll be another fortnight before the magic box underpass on Seshadri Road is ready. Rocky surface is said to be causing the delay. However, the one at K R Circle is progressing at good speed.
Dusty roads, chugging earth-movers and men at work: work continued in good measure at both the sites on Monday. The vehicular underpass at K R Circle is fast reaching completion, thanks to the long weekend that resulted in significantly reduced traffic volume. All the 14 pre-cast segments for the 6 m x 4.5 m magic box have been laid. Work on the underpass stretch is now in progress.
Alongside, a 3 m x 3 m pedestrian underpass is also being constructed here. The 12-metre-long subway will help pedestrians cross across from the Revenue Survey office building to Ambedkar Veedhi. The ramp for this subway, built at a cost of around Rs 60 lakh, will be built along the 2.5-metre-wide footpath.
The vehicular underpass on Seshadri Road, at the Maharani’s College Junction, was supposed to be completed by April 14-15. While the stretch above the underpass is almost ready, the underpass itself along Palace Road is yet to be completed. Traffic continues to be diverted here, though one can spot a couple of twowheelers on the dusty stretch where work is in progress.
“Much of the delay is due to the rocky surface. There was also the problem of lesser staff on the Easter weekend. But it has now been sorted out. We hope to wind up both underpasses in another 15 days,” a BBMP engineer at the site told
The Times of India.
