Yelahanka double road to be named after Sandeep

The Yelahanka Double Road from Escorts factory to M S Palya will be named after slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.

This was announced at the inauguration of several development works in the Yelahanka constituency by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday. The road is being developed as another route to the Bangalore International Airport.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM directed the officials to complete the works within the next year and also maintain a superior quality of work. He said the junior officials would be responsible for completion of the work, if the senior officials were put on election duty.

Laying emphasis on the education for the girl child, the CM said his government had introduced the maximum number of programmes to encourage education and welfare of the girl child.

The total amount of the projects announced in Yelahanka constituency is Rs 369.68 crore. The projects are being implemented by Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Karnataka Slum Clearance Board (KSCB).

Some of the works announced are:
* Launching of construction works of arterial roads connecting to BIAL
* Launching of construction works of Jakkur Flying Club-Kylasanahalli-Hebbal-Ring Road-Kannur road and a two lane double road
* Construction of 560 houses by KSCB and infrastructure at Chikkabommana Sandra, Chokkasandra and Srinivasapura
* Distribution of ration cards and pension for seniors, handicapped people and widows
* Launching of works like construction of roads, footpaths, drains and asphalting works
* Launching of precast segmental underpasses, vehicle and pedestrian safety underpasses.
