It is not justpedestrians and motorists who have been affected because of the delay in completing infrastructure projects in the city. Even traders have been hit hard.
According to traders in Jayanagar 3rd block, their business has dropped by at least 50 per cent and the safety of people is also at stake because of the delay in completing work on a stormwater drain.

The BBMP took up the drain work without giving any notice to traders in the area. The traders were assured that the work would be completed in a month.

“One side of the road was completely blocked for digging and vehicles were not allowed. Even after a month, the work remains incomplete.

Repeated pleas to the BBMP have gone unheard,” said Mr Singh, a shop owner.

“The stretch has been made one-way and the public has not been informed about the traffic diversion. Only regular customers now visit our shops. We have lost many new customers,” he added.

Motorists and pedestrians are also at risk. The junction has become a death-trap with no cop to oversee the traffic. Continuous flow of vehicles towards Jayanagar 4th block has made life miserable for pedestrians.

“Traders are planning to make a representation to the BBMP to expedite the work,” Mr Singh added.

Public should be informed about the ongoing infrastructure projects.
