State to go by HC order on NICE road alignment

BANGALORE: The State Government on Thursday informed the Karnataka High Court that it was willing to go by the court’s order on the contentious issue of alignment of the Peripheral Road forming part of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project (BMICP) at Gottigere Lake, off Bannerghatta Road, in Bangalore.
This submission was made by Ashok Harnahalli, who has been specifically engaged by the State to argue its case in the High Court in matters relating to BMICP being undertaken by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE).
When the matter came up, residents of Gottigere alleged that the lake was never mentioned as part of the alignment when the frame work agreement (FWA) was drawn up. They alleged that NICE had deliberately changed the alignment to ensure that it came much nearer to Gottigere lake.
When the Bench sought to ascertain the position of the State on the issue, Mr. Harnahalli said the State had decided to take up the alignment over the lake. However, it would abide by whatever decision the court took, he said.
