Bangalore: Movement of vehicles in and around Bayyappanahalli and Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium on Mahatma Gandhi Road would be easy by September next year when the 10-km stretch of the Metro Rail between the two destinations (Reach One) will be ready.

Announcing this at a meeting organised by various departments at Govindaraja Nagar here on Tuesday, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said that he had given strict instructions to the officials concerned to complete the project speedily.

Inaugurating various development programmes and laying foundation stones for many others under Govindaraja Nagar Assembly constituency, Mr. Yeddyurappa said his Government had not discriminated in development schemes in the 28 constituencies of the city.

He said that infrastructure would be developed in the city on priority. An indoor stadium would be built on the Vijayanagar playground and would be named after Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Math.

He said that the underpass at Magadi Road would be completed by February 25 facilitating easy movement of traffic at the busy intersection. Mr. Yeddyurappa, who also inaugurated the Janaspandana programme, said that the planned expenditure and plan size of the State Government would be not reduced in his budget.

V. Somanna, MLA representing the constituency, said that he was able to get benefit to 406 people under Bhagyalakshmi scheme, 1,550 under Sandhya Suraksha, 4,960 widows, 877 sewing machines and Rs. 1 lakh each to 250 persons for purchasing vans and cars in Govindaraja Nagar. He said that 5,600 families got BPL cards while 8,500 families the APL cards.

H.N. Ananth Kumar, MP, said that the Bangalore Development Authority had taken up the work of Outer Ring Road. The function was attended by Ministers Ramachandra Gowda, S.N. Krishnaiah Setty and S. Suresh Kumar and senior officers.
