The Karnataka High Court on Friday issued emergent notice to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and directed it to file objections if there are any regarding the stopping the collection of parking fee.
Single bench judge Justice Ravi Malimath admitted the petition filed by Aishwara associates and ordered notices be issued to BBMP and the assistant revenue officer.
Petitioner's advocate said BBMP on December 29, 2008, awarded contract to J Subramanya for collecting parking fee from 37 roads, including Brunton Road, Lavelle Road, Commercial Street, Brigade Road and Richmond Road.
On January 2, 2009, BBMP joint commissioner withdrew the contract without giving any reason.
