High Court moved against airport user development fee

High Court moved against airport user development fee

Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: An advocate from Bangalore on Monday filed an interlocutory application before the Karnataka High Court seeking a stay on the levy of user development fee by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).

In his application, G.R. Mohan, who had earlier challenged the closure of the HAL Airport, said BIAL was levying fee of Rs. 260 on domestic passengers from January 16 and that this was illegal and also contrary to the terms of the concession agreement.

He said the airport was not fully operational.

However, BIAL had imposed user fee which, he said, was contrary to the directions of the High Court.

He said instead of collecting user fee from domestic passengers, the authorities could have permitted reopening of HAL Airport. The application is likely to come up for hearing shortly.
