BDA to call for preliminary notification for Shivaram Karanth Layout
Bosky Khanna. Bangalore
It is going to be a bonanza for those seeking government sites in Bangalore and city outskirts.
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is taking the first step by this month-end to make 80,000 sites available for them. BDA will call for preliminary notification (calling for objections from land owners or tenants whose lands will be developed for the layout) by December-end for developing 18,975 sites in Bangalore north for Shivaram Karanth layout between Doddaballapur Road and Hesaraghatta Road.
The cabinet, on October 23, had approved the formation of Shivaram Karanth Layout and Kempegowda Layout, the latter with 60,000 sites. The projects were also announced in the last fiscal budget.
Ground verification of Kempegowda layout between Magadi and Mysore Road has been completed for development works to start. Verification of Shivaram Karanth Layout would take place next year after preliminary notification. About 4,000 people stay in 17 villages earmarked for Shivaram Karanth Layout.
The layout development scenario has raised the hopes of 2.5 lakh applicants who had been awaiting government sites since 2004. They had applied for sites in Arkavathi Layout, where 9,000 allottees have sites. Formation of the layout has stopped and the issue is under litigation in the supreme court.
BDA Commissioner Siddhaiah said Shivaram Karanth Layout would be developed across 3,456 acres with a budget of Rs1,847 crore. It includes prime `hoblis' like Yelahanaka, Hesarghatta and Yeshwanthpur.
"We aim to develop Kempegowda and Shivaram Karanth layout simultaneously. The delay in calling for preliminary notification was because we were awaiting government clearance. The draft notification has been approved and will be released to public next week," he said.
The projects will be developed under public-private partnership. Land owners, their details and population of in the villages will be ascertained during land acquisition process.
