Walk against road widening tomorrow

Bangalore: Countering the authorities’ stance that road widening and Metro Rail project are solutions to all the traffic problems in the city, the Environment Support Group (ESG) and Hasiru Usiru have planned a “Walk to reclaim Bangalore” from Lalbagh West Gate to Town Hall on Sunday. Former chairman of the Legislative Council B.K. Chandrashekhar and MLA of Chickpet constituency Hemachandra Sagar are expected to participate.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Leo Saldanha of ESG said, “The event is being held to create awareness about the need for public involvement in decisions that will affect their homes, their green surroundings, their businesses and lives.”
