Residents protest over free traffic movement

Residents protest over free traffic movement
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Residents of Bharatinagar staged a protest near Frazer Town Police station on Tuesday, demanding that traffic be allowed in the opposite direction as well through one vent of the Railway Under Bridge at Frazer Town.
They alleged that the bridge had become a bottleneck instead of easing the flow of traffic.

The three vents of the bridge allowed traffic flow only in one direction, which caused great inconvenience to the residents of Banaswadi, Lingarajapuram, Sevanagar and its surrounding areas.

Many travelling from Hennur, Jal Vayu Vihar, D Costa Layout, Richard's Town, Ramamurthynagar and Kalyan Nagar pass through these vents. The vehicles pile up on the Mosque Road over the bridge, which is already in a poor condition. The residents are now faced with severe traffic problems, especially the school going children and office goers.

Every day, nearly 25,000 vehicles and 10 lakh people pass through the area. The residents complained that the police had shown no concern and were not able to take any concrete decision on this issue.
