METRO RAIL VIADUCT

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRC) has awarded to M/s IDEB-SUCG (JV), Bangalore, the tender for the construction of viaducts (elevated structures), excluding Stations in Reach-3 between Yeswanthpura Terminal and Swastik section of the Metro Rail work.

The total length of the viaduct is approximately 5 kms (excluding stations) and comprises 208 piers resting on piles. The span between the piers varies from 22 to 31 meters. A special span at the Malleswaram South-Western Railway crossing measures 66 metres. The total cost of construction is Rs 209.5 crore.

The firm which bagged the tender is expected to complete the work in 27 months. Pre-cast, pre-stressed segments will be used for the viaduct construction, and it will be positioned using a launching girder, said a release
