The ambitious Metro Rail project is getting seamless extensions. In its phase II, the metro will be extended to Kengeri from Nayandahalli, announced Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) sources said they would soon undertake a study on the feasibility of the extension. The work on phase II will start after the completion of phase I in December 2010 and the Metro will be extended from Byappanahalli to White Field and Electronic City to Yelahanka in this phase.

Meanwhile, the CM has instructed BBMP Commissioner S Subramanya to construct an underpass to connect Kengeri with the satellite town.

Revenue sites
The state government has appointed a cabinet sub committee headed by Revenue minister K Karunakara Reddy to look into the issue of revenue site registration. Registrations which are on hold currently are likely to be resumed once the sub-committee gives its report.

TTMC centres
Transport Minister R Ashok announced that Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will soon start the work on building Traffic and Transit Management Centres (TTMC) at Hebbal, Kanakapura Road, Byappanahalli and Peenya.

KSRTC has already acquired 10 acres of land at Peenya and seven acres at Byappanahalli for the purpose.

2 Sundays for B’lore
The CM will reserve two Sundays in his itinerary for Bangalore. Yeddyurappa said he will tour the city to get first-hand information about the problems. “We will focus on the newly added areas of BBMP. An action plan will be readied soon for implementation”, he added.

Facelift for lake
The dying lake of Harohalli is soon set for rejuvenation. Yeddyurappa announced that the lake adjoining Magadi road will be developed on the lines of Sankey lake. A senior BBMP official said, “We will improve the lake with BDA and the project includes swimming pool, paved walkways and landscaped gardens”.
