The joint house committee on the international airport in Devanahalli has sought details from Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) to clarify whether it had adhered to the plan approved by the Karnataka government.

Chief executive officer of BIA, Albert Bruner, was present in the house committee meeting on Tuesday. Mr Bruner had reportedly told the committee that he was ready to provide information pertaining to the construction of the airport.

The members sought to know whether BIA had obtained the concurrence of the government. The committee also asked if the BIA board had obtained approval for expanding the infrastructure facility to accommodate the traffic that went up from four million to 11 million.

The house committee has decided to inspect the BIA on October 31 along with a media team to ascertain the facts. BIA officials said that due to red tapism, the airport got several sanctions very late.
