Bangalore: It was an early-morning meet on a lazy Sunday but the crowd at the ‘Janaspandana’ held at Gayathri Devi park in Prakashnagar had a refreshing look.
What followed a light musical entertainer was not just an overflowing complaint box but more of an interactive session with a volley of suggestions and answers.
Around 400-450 people turned up at the meet that started at 6:30 am on Sunday. Almost all the officials who attended a similar meet on Saturday at Basaveshwara school were present. Some police officers from Sriramapura police station came.
Around 85-90 complaints were received — most of which were general in nature and related to the park and traffic problems. Clogged drains also featured prominently in the talks. Surrounded by three storm water drains, the park has seen many chaotic days during rain. The authorities also took complaints related with public toilets and sanitation.
State minister for urban development S Suresh Kumar, who presided over the meet, said periodic inter-department interactions between officials and the public can help in solving many issues.
