Metro land acquisition: Status quo ordered

Metro land acquisition: Status quo ordered
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The High Court has ordered maintenance of status quo in the land acquisition from a petitioner for the Metro Rail project at Jayanagar South End Circle.

Hearing a petition by M J Sumanth and four others, Justice Abdul Nazeer has ordered an emergent notice to the State govt. The petitioners had challenged the acquisition stating that private land acquisition is not necessary as government land was available. The land acquisition was done to favour some vested interests. The petitioner contended the change in alignment of the project supports their argument. Justice Abdul Nazeer directed the parties to maintain status quo for three months over the property.

Emergent notice has been ordered to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, Special land acquisition officer, KIADB, Urban Development Dept and other depts.
