BANGALORE: Residents of Nandini Layout protested the acquiring of revenue sites in their area by the BDA.
MLA of Mahalaxmi Layout constituency N Narendrababu said the people have been residing in the area for over 30 years and it was not right on the part of the BDA to acquire the land now. He asked the BDA to take corrective steps immediately, failing which the residents would protest.
According to the Nandini Layout Welfare Association, the layout can be considered ‘fully developed’ as the BDA has built roads, provided drinking water and electricity.
Over 95 per cent of the houses in the layout already have their Khatha done under the BBMP and have been paying taxes every year, they added.
Rama B, who lost her site to the BDA’s acquisition said that they had only recently demolished their old house and were waiting for the plan sanction for the construction of the new house from the BBMP when their site was taken over by the BDA.
"We have been living here for the past 30 years and now suddenly we are being thrown out without any warning" she said.
