BANGALORE: With the monsoon rains dwindling, power cuts have made a comeback to dispel darkness over the state. Various ESCOMS have resorted to load shedding once again to tide over the shortage.

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) announced its finalised schedule for loadshedding on Tuesday. It will resort to two hours of power cut in urban areas and up to six hours in rural areas. There will be no power for one hour each during the peak hours (6 am to 10 am and 6 pm to 10 pm). Industrial and commercial consumers will have two-hour loadshedding at a stretch. They will face interruption in power supply from 10 am to 6 pm.

NO POWER FROM CHHATTISGARH

Principal Secretary to Energy Department K Jayaraj asked consumers to conserve energy and said loadshedding is the only option as of now. Earlier, the CM had made a request to his Chhattisgarh counterpart to supply power to overcome the shortage.

The option was ruled out since Chhattisgarh quoted Rs 10 per unit of power which proved to be too expensive to the state.
