BANGALORE: Creative artistes staging a loud protest on Sunday morning did make an impact, but not as they expected it to be. Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari on Monday confirmed that 32 unauthorised discotheques running across the city were shut down due to invalid licences.
The police raids at these discotheques revealed that the owners had no valid license, making the closure necessary.
Addressing the media, Bidari added that certain rules and regulations were laid down by the government in 2005 (that liquor and music should not go together), and if the discotheques actually followed these rules, there wouldn’t be any problem in restarting the discotheques.
