Shankar Bidari's mantra: Safe City, smooth traffic
DH News Service, Bangalore:

‘Surakshita Bengaluru, Sugama Sanchara’ (Safe Bangalooru, smooth traffic) is the mantra of new Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari.

After taking charge from N Achutha Rao on Thursday, Bidari revealed his plans of proactive policing.

He promised to meet the public and attend to their grievances three days a week-- Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday between 3 pm and 5 pm.

Bidari said, “I don't want to talk. Give me 30 days time and you will see some changes. My main mantra for the city is smooth traffic, safe and crime-free city.”

On discipline in the Department, he said, "public should feel free to walk into any police station to lodge complaints. Jurisdictional issue is not complainant’s problem, it is the primary duty of the policemen to give a patient hearing to their problems.”

Streamlining of parade will be a major task. Bidari said, “every Friday, it will be mandatory for the policemen to attend the parade. It will be held at three places in the city - CAR North, South and Madiwala.

It will be compulsory for DCPs to visit police stations and give quality time in solving issues. Bidari also promised to visit police stations regularly.

He said, “I will not allow police inspectors and station staff to deal with real estate cases. If found guilty, they have to face the consequences.”
