PU students mugged in broad daylight
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Five teenage boys were mugged in broad daylight on Saturday in busy upmarket Koramangala area.
The I PU students from Jain College — Prajwal, Manish, Viswesh, Alan and Raj Vel — were returning from a lunch party when two hoodlums robbed them of their valuables including a gold chain, five mobile phones and plastic money.
A victim told Deccan Herald that around 2 pm, “we decided to have lunch at an eatery on Koramangala main road.
After lunch we were bantering before the hotel when two youths accosted us. They told us to come to a side as we were involved in the J C Nagar disturbances on Friday. One of them snatched a cell phone from Prajwal. When Prajwal sought to take it back, he pulled out a knife and held it at Prajwal’s throat.”
“Before we could realise what was happening, the youth started talking on the cell and began saying things like ‘do you want these chokre to be brought to you, no I won’t hit them’ and so on.”
‘The boss is there’
“The duo showed a van parked nearby and told us that their ‘boss’ was inside and if we made noise we would be bumped off. They snatched the other four mobiles, a gold chain, wallets and cards on our person.”
“We stood there aghast even as the two walked down the road and vanished. It took some time for us to realise that we had been robbed. We rushed back into the hotel and the manager accompanied us to police station.”
Initially, the men in uniform found it difficult to believe the story. The officer-in-charge even shouted back at them and made the boys cool their heels in the station for a couple of hours. By then one of the boys’ uncle, Ramesh, a retired professor of S J Polytechnic arrived at the station and managed to convince the police into booking a case.
