Yeddy plans cell to focus on City
Bangalore, DHNS:
The new Government headed by B S Yeddyurappa has promised to set up a separate cell to focus attention on the infrastructure development of Bangalore City.

In his address to the joint session of State Legislature on Friday, Governor Rameshwar Thakur said following the growth of Bangalore City, problems such as high traffic density, water shortage, sanitation, pollution etc have grown. Hence a separate cell needed to be set up, he added.

On the issues of regularisation of unauthorised constructions and the Capital Value System (CVS), the Governor said the property tax will be reviewed.

Referring to the urbanisation, he said the Government proposed to formulate an Urban Development Policy to provide necessary focus for the development of towns and cities. “While majority of our people live in rural areas, the State is increasingly urbanised. 35 per cent of our population lives in urban areas and this figure will keep growing. Moreover, attention will also be paid for providing urban amenities in rural areas,” he stated.
