Bangalore: Though the promised Cauvery water may take some years, the areas that have come under Greater Bangalore need not despair. They will soon have borewells. More to cheer: chlorination units will be embedded in the borewells and mini water supply scheme units will filter the water.
All this will be possible as the government on Thursday decided to spend Rs 100 crore on improving drinking water supply in these areas — CMCs, TMC and 110 villages. The BWSSB will take responsibility for water supply in these areas and government will complete long-pending projects, rejuvenate lakes and dig borewells, rural development and panchayat raj minister Shobha Karandlaje told reporters after the cabinet meeting.
