Bangalore: The state administration will leave no stone unturned in providing connectivity to the international airport. Apart from making commute on Bellary Road hassle-free by building underpasses and grade separators, the public works department has developed nine alternative roads. All these roads are ready and can reduce the burden on Bellary Road, governor’s adviser S Krishna Kumar said on Tuesday.
Within a week, work on all underpasses and grade separators on Bellary Road will be completed, he maintained.
As long as President’s Rule is in place, the government will not take a decision on the contentious issue of naming the international airport after Kempe Gowda. “We will leave it to the elected government,’’ Kumar said.
The government also believes in the demand for employing more locals in the international airport. “There are 53% Kannadigas in the international airport now. We would like to see this number increase further. BIAL has been suitably instructed,’’ he said.
