BANGALORE: CLOUDY skies coupled with rainfall and thunder showers in most parts of the state are likely to continue for the next couple of days because of the trough of low at sea level.
This trough is flowing from Chattisgarh to south interior Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Due to the passing trough, most parts of south interior Karnataka, including Bangalore, will experience rainfall for the next two days, Director-in-charge of the Met Department B Puttanna said.
A trough is a line of areas experiencing low pressure as compared with other places. Rainfall in the low pressure occurs due to low humidity and increasing upper cyclonic pressure.
Presently there is low pressure across the peninsular region, Indian Ocean and along the East Coast. Low pressure winds are blowing 1.5 kms above sea level, creating small cyclonic circulations. Thus Bangalore is experiencing rainfall, said Puttanna.
Due to the presence of cloud cover and moisture content, the maximum temperature which is presently around 34-35 degree C will reduce, while the minimum temperatures during late evenings and early mornings will increase.
Cool temperatures are likely Puttanna added that rainfall and thunder showers in the month of May is not uncommon. People can expect more rainfall over the forthcoming days.
The City meteorology department recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degree C and a minimum temperature of 22.2 degree C upto 5.30 pm.
The airport recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6 degree C and a minimum of 20.9 degree C. On Wednesday night the City and airport recorded 0.8 mm and 0.4 mm rainfall respectively.
The Met office in the city recorded 0.2 mm rainfall upto 5.30 pm on Thursday, while the office at the airport recorded 13.4 mm rainfall.
