Showers bring chill to Bangalore

Showers bring chill to Bangalore
DH News Service, Bangalore:
There is suddenly a chill in the air, a decisive shift in the weather, and Bangaloreans, used to the scorching summer heat, are not complaining too much...

In the first summer showers of the month, the City saw traces of rain on Thursday and recorded 0.3 mm of rain on Wednesday. For most Bangaloreans, the consequent drop in temperature came as a big relief since they had been suffering all of Thursday in hot and increasing discomfort. The weather is likely to stay that way.

But South Bangalore is expected to receive more rain than North Bangalore where minimal rainfall is expected in the next 48 hours.

Rain likely

Scattered rain is likely in half the districts of the State during the same period. The trough of low pressure at sea level runs from Chhattisgarh to extreme south — Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh and South Interior Karnataka, explained B Puttanna, senior meteorologist, Meteorological Department. There is a small upper air cyclonic circulation over South Interior Karnataka at 1.5 km above sea level, he informed. Such weather patterns are common during May and the rainfall is expected to increase towards the onset of monsoon.

Moisture is being fed from the seas to the land by wind. Combined with good heating, this has led to the rains.

The cloud formation was more on Friday than it was on Thursday.
