ATC wasn’t disrupted, says BIAL

Bangalore: BIAL has said there was no disruption of ATC services on Saturday morning and that transition to the new airport has been satisfactory. “The rumours on disruption of ATC services are not true,” a BIAL statement said.
“The start-up team of BIA has reported that the first 18 hours of Day 1 operations at the airport have been satisfactory in comparison to other such transitions around the world,” the statement said.
BIA was marked operational at 00:01 hours with the take-off of Air India Flight IC 957 to Singapore early this morning. By the end of the day, the new airport would have handled 341 air traffic movements including 172 arrivals and 159 departures, BIAL said.
The company said concerns on distance to the airport were cast away by many passengers who gave positive feedback following their arrival at the airport.
“The on-ground transport offered by BMTC was an instant hit with passengers as several people were seen using and appreciating the service. Besides initial teething problems, the take-off was smooth. We will iron these out within a week of operations,” BIAL said.
