Free Volvo rides to BIA

The BMTC will offer free rides to commuters on its Volvo ‘Vayu Vajra’ service to the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) for two days next month.

BMTC managing director Upendra Tripathy said the rides will be offered to commuters on May 9 and 10 to give them a feel of the service. With the opening of BIA delayed up to May 11 and a further delay in its opening looming large, BMTC is incurring a loss of Rs 8,000 per day per bus, say officials of the state-run corporation.

With all the 40 airport special buses built with custom specifications designed to accommodate luggage of airline passengers, the delay has resulted in all buses lying idle.
