Underpass work will hit traffic

Bangalore: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has began fixing pre-cast elements for the construction of the underpass at BDA junction from Monday midnight and it will take another three days to fix all the 30 elements.

The BBMP will be carrying out the work only during night till all the elements are fixed and then switch over to the day and night schedule.
‘Not practical’

Engineers, supervising the work, said that they could not fix the elements during the day owing to movement of vehicles as the traffic police had informed them that it was not practical to ban vehicle movement around the BDA junction during the day.

Meanwhile, the BBMP and the city police have requested people to cooperate with them as the movement of vehicles around Vasanthnagar, High Grounds, Seshadripuram, Millers’ Road, Palace Road, Bellary Road, Sankey Road and surrounding areas will be affected till the completion of the underpass.
